Letter V

Letter V stands for  Variety

Variety is the spice of life !

So, it only makes sense to have new food items to your  diet, and add fresh workouts to your regimen every time you can.

Try a Zumba class instead of the regular walk once in awhile, because you need to feed your inner soul too.

And, try a new cuisine instead of the same food that you have every day.

You can find hundreds of recipes on SparkPeople!

Letter U

Letter U stands for  Ultimate Goal Weight

After so many years in this journey I have realized that I need to have an ultimate goal weight, and that change once it has been achieved ( if needed).

current weight – 66 kilos

Mini G Wt  –  63 kilos

Ultimate G Wt – 60 kilos

If above is my plan, for say Jan- March then, my Mini GW can now become my ultimate GW and, the ultimate GW can be a new number!

Letter T

Letter T stand  for To Keep Trying

I hate to admit it, but it’s been about three to four years since I started my weight loss journey!

For some reason, it just doesn’t seem to end!

The million dollar question : why?

For beginners, I have this bad habit of losing 5-7 pounds and instead of moving on I celebrate – end up gaining those same pounds again… it’s like a vicious circle!

When this happened in 2014 I pushed pretty hard and  then I thought this is it!

But, then it never was!

The only good part in this rigmarole is, that I kept trying. Still am trying.

Maybe I would have been a smart, sexy 55 kilos if I had been able to push myself when it was necessary.

But, if I had stopped trying maybe I would have weighed twice as I weigh now!

Now, I’m not saying that it’s a good thing that I have not been able to reach my goals yet, but I think that despite of failures and hiccups we should keep pushing!

Letter Q

Letter Q  – Quick Work Out?

I certainly don’t think, that there are quick ways to lose weight, but I do think you can do quick workouts.

When you start with quick workouts, you are forming a practise to start working out.

I have said it before, for me I saw the results really fast when I did  non quick workouts- 3-4 miles almost four days a week.

But, I just have not been able to keep at it.

So, instead of not working out at all- I started aiming for doing HIIT and 4 min workouts.

YouTube is a treasure of such workouts & I will share all my finds soon:)

My tip – if you are just starting out, and you can’t even think of working out- just promise yourself to do 10 mins a day.

Just TEN mins. You can do this, right?

1 min march in place ( warm up)

( each should take you about 1min)

10 burpees

10 push ups

10 Knee Lifts

10 bench dips

Repeat any 3 of the above again

1 min march on spot

I started with a ten a min a day – workout and I used to walk on my treadmill. I didn’t know anything about Hiit or workouts.

But, when I started ten mins  daily, I myself started increasing the time to 20 mins.

You don’t have to follow this workout, I just gave an example:)

Letter P

P stands for Practical

We need to follow a practical approach when it comes to losing weight!

I think, in the past I have done Atkins and fad diets more than anyone. I lost and gained but never did I stick to a healthy weight!

It was not until I met Khushboo, that I started eating everything in moderation and still losing weight!

( Khushboo is a nutritionist and you can contact  her, here)

I would hate to eat just protein with not fats or just veggies!

But, I got to eat tortillas and crackers and nuts! Even cashews! Yum!

So, to lose weight in the longer run you should be practical!

You cannot lose ten kilos in a month. But, even if you do- chances are you will be angry and miserable.

Lack of food, lack of soul feeding foods ( nuts, biscuits, chocolates) just made me BLAH!

I would love to know your thoughts on this!
