Social Network – Thank You Twitter

I met Shah Rukh Khan, in 2011 and, wanted to badly be a part of his team. Thats when & how  I decided to join TWITTER!

I hurriedly made my account as –> @z_jabberwocky (Yes, thats what I started as!) and started to tweet endlessly, to @iamsrk.

Within a few days, I learnt all about Twitter. In fact, even participated in a contest which would take me to Berlin, if I was to win. Sadly, I walked away with two tickets of the movie Don! I never missed a Q/A sessions with SRK but, I never got a reply from him.

Slowly, I started interacting with more people, and contacting editors of big newspapers became my new hobby. I managed to convince Mr. Prabhu Chawla, the edior of  Indian Express, to publish one of my articles for the online equivalent of the newspaper.  And, that is how I started writing. Even before I ever blogged!

I got about four-five articles published & it was a very proud moment for me & my family.

Ironically, that’s about the time  got a tweet from SRK too. Although, I never got the bag. Still. 😉

So, now that I have shared my small ‘twitter’ story with you all, let me sum it up to why I’m thankful for the same.

  1. I can connect to anyone in the world. If I’m lucky I get replies too.
  2. I can become famous. (If I don’t quit & keep pushing)
  3. I made so many new friends

I realized I could never be a part of SRK’s team & that sort of watered the fire I had in me to get famous. I lost my ‘mojo’ & unfortunately stopped writing too.

However, I remembered the powers of twitter and I wanted to start again It would have been great, if I had not quit, but what’s done is done. I finally made my way back! I have a new name for twitter, same as my blog (@SlimExpectation)

  • Too bad you haven’t gotten the bag yet, but very cool it inspired you to write more more. Wishing you the best year on Twitter, yet! Just keep tweeting, tweeting, tweeting….

  • I’m optimistic and delighted every time I open up Twitter on my browser, while Facebook I dont know what is that. Twitter put simply is fun, fantastic, and all about the here and now. The fact that I can’t even search my own feed for past things I’ve said makes it exist almost entirely in the present tense. The people I follow are people I know, people I work with and live near, but also a good dose of random comedians, musicians, and celebrities I’ll never meet.I like my current social circle of friends and their thoughts, jokes, and ideas they share each day on Twitter. The Internet is here today and all about tomorrow, and I prefer my social media to reflect that, and that’s why I love Twitter.

Your post was so apt for my prompt/topic. Thank you for writing for the contest. Top 4 to be announced soon. Keep a watch on my tweets.
