Ten things 2018 taught me
It’s been a hot minute since I penned down some of my thoughts! And, what better way than to do right at the last month of the year.
Well, this will be a long post, and it’s got no tutorials or information for bloggers or fitness enthusiasts. It’s just a little something about, yours truly!
This year was amazing and I hope the next one is even better.
But, of course, this year has also been a great teacher and taught a lot of valuable lessons to me.
So, without delay let me just start :
1- Hard Work pays off. Yes, not just instantly but it sure does. The more the effort the better the results! This blog’s been around since 2015 and I started earning some moment from it only just recently. So, even though I was unsure of many things, I decided to give my 100% and thankfully it paid off.

2- When people walk out of your life, let them go: Because really there is only so much you can do. This year, some friends had an issue with me. (Although, I still do not know what the issue was) and they iced me out!
Well, initially I was extremely upset. But, with time the dust settled in and I started seeing the bigger picture. That is, let them go.

3- I have matured. Like really! This year, I saw a completely new shade of myself. I have stopped panicking. Ok, let me rephrase.
I don’t panic quite as much as I used to if thrown with challenges. I mostly, just give me best and leave things on God.
4- The Diet Coke addiction can be dealt with. It’s been 4 months since I sipped the drink. Do I miss it? Yes! But, do I really miss it? Not one bit!
Diet Coke has been in blood for years. And, it was the hardest thing to give it up. But, now I feel confident. If I can leave Coke I can actually do anything I set my mind to!
My teeth had started to stain & not to forget my haemoglobin dipped down to 8.
So, health took priority! And, I think rightfully so.

5- Drama Love – I would actually be surprised at my mom/mom in law, that how could they Pakistani serials. Like, really? But, karma is a b…!
And, one fine day my laptop gave up on me. And, then I had to YouTube a tv show. And, guess what I was hooked!!!
And, it’s been a while since I switched back to my regular shows!
To be fair, maybe I like the newness. English shows have been in my life since 2008!
6- Being healthy trumps being skinny. Once Diet Coke was out of the picture, I started fulfilling my cravings with extra munching on snacks. This was natural. I ended up gaining a few pounds. But, the good news is, that it’s ok. I don’t need to do it all in one go right?

7- Making close friends– I made some beautiful friends in the blogging world. And, some friendships got even closer. I feel blessed to have met the right people, at the right time. God’s been kind to me.
8- Finally skipping the all or nothing mentality. I have learnt that just giving up carbs is not the answer you are looking for when it comes to weight loss. It’s, eating what you usually eat with few sustainable changes. This means I’m never on a diet. And, it feels awesome!
I do not have to wake up to egg whites! Instead, I enjoy waffles, pancakes, fried egg or overnight oats- respectively.
And, yes I have roti in lunch and dinner 🙂

9- Family time is important. It’s important to stay involved in family life. Be it with your, in-laws, parents or kids. But, every relationship needs nurturing.
Spending time with kids playing a game of scrabble, or just chatting about things which are important to the child is a good way to bond, with any member of the family.
I have started spending more time with my family. At times, I find myself complaining about my kids, which I hope to change!
10- Taking it with a pinch of salt! Life is happening now. It’s impossible for life to be beautiful rainbow 365 days. So, when faced with issues, learn to take it with a pinch of salt.
With me, personally, I literally worked on myself to not panic
Take things easily.
Now, I ask myself – will crying a river help? If yes then I cry and feel lighter!
But, if I feel that my crying or sulking can’t do anything I try my best to not fret and stay positive!

Example: it’s 5 am right now, and I started the post an hour back. I haven’t slept a wink.
I just couldn’t sleep. Maybe the coffee at 6 pm?
But, the moral of the story is I’m not stressed. I can always sleep for a while when the kids are off to school. Or, in the noon.
Instead of looking for problems, in a problem- I have started to search for solutions.
I know this is a long post, but imagine it’s been written on a cell phone by a very hungry woman. And, yes I’m constantly drinking water and visiting the loo too!
I will be taking a short break from the blog, although Instagram will be hard to quit even for a few days. Do follow me :

That’s an early round-up post but I got to the end and saw why. I tend to do my round-up post on the 31st of the month! Looks like you’ve learnt a lot this year especially regarding emotional and physical wellbeing. They tend to go hand-in-hand. Good on you for your hard work with blogging and seeing the blog go where you want it to. Have a good break and best wishes for 2019!

We all learn different things in life by each passing day and year.. what you learned is somewhat similar to mine too. Specially to let go people who takes you for granted.
A long post but relevant points. My favourite is that hard work pays eventually. Hope your diet Coke addiction stops soon.
First of all I really loved your insta pictures. They look amazing… Love the composition.
Looks like the year has been rewarding. Congratulations on being able to reap rewards through the blogging. And of couese, on giving up diet Coke. Hope the streak continues 😊
I must say that it is quite early for a roundup post for 2018 but then when the life lessons are compelling enough, why should one wait until the last day. Great lessons and equally great Instagram pics. Once upon a time, I was also glued to Pakistani TV dramas. Now I just watch the re-runs of Zindagi Gulzar Hai. 🙂
Inspirational! Who are going , let them go. Family time is important. And hard work pays off.
